What’s the energy of 2025? Numerology and Astrology say it’s a year that will change everything.

Every January, it seems like most people step into the new year either carrying the weight of the last or rushing to wipe the slate clean with a “new goals, new routines, new mindset, new me” type energy. But what often gets overlooked is that each year holds its own energetic blueprint. A frequency that shapes our experiences on both a personal and collective level.

Some years push us to build forward. Others force us to slow down and recalibrate. Some expand, some break things apart. Taking the time to understand this rhythm helps us work with the energy instead of against it.

It’s not about deciding what kind of year you want as much as it is about recognizing what kind of year it already is.

Like astrology, numerology reveals the deeper rhythm of time. When we add up the numbers of a year until we reach a single digit, we uncover the Universal Year number—the dominant energetic theme shaping our lives and the world around us. This frequency doesn’t just dictate how we feel, it influences global events, societal shifts, and the personal cycles we each experience within 12 months.

In 2025, we step into a Nine Universal Year, a year of completion, closure, and transformation. But before we dive into what that means, let’s look back at how the last two years have shaped us and pushed us toward both personal and collective evolution.

2023, Seven Universal Year – The Year of Spiritual Awakening + Revelation

2023, a Seven Universal Year, was all about introspection, spiritual seeking, and uncovering truth. Seven energy slows us down, pulling us inward to reflect, question, and realign.

It was a year that asked: What do you believe? What do you truly know? What is real?

We felt this energy on a global scale through moments of chaos and revelation, where hidden cracks in societal structures were exposed, forcing us to confront disparities we could no longer ignore.

How 2023 Manifested in the World

  • Mass protests and social justice movements – From climate action to racial justice and labor rights, 2023 was a year of uprising. Activists worldwide took to the streets, demanding systemic change in governments, corporations, and institutions. Record-breaking strikes swept the U.S., while global movements challenged corruption, inequality, and state violence.

  • Israel’s genocide in Palestine and global solidarity – In October, Israel launched a full-scale genocide on Gaza, killing tens of thousands and displacing millions. In response, millions across the U.S., Europe, Asia, and the Middle East mobilized in historic protests, demanding an end to the massacre and calling for Palestinian liberation.

  • The U.S. Supreme Court’s reversal of Affirmative Action – The Court struck down affirmative action in college admissions, dismantling a key policy designed to address racial inequality in education. The decision reignited national debates on race, privilege, and systemic barriers, forcing the U.S. to confront its deep-rooted institutional racism.

  • Global economic struggles and widening wealth gaps – Inflation, rising interest rates, and mass layoffs reshaped financial security for millions, while billionaires and corporations amassed record wealth. Economic instability led many to question capitalism, wealth distribution, and the long-term sustainability of our financial systems.

2023 was not just a year of revelation, it was one of deep questioning and reckoning that posed the question: What systems need to be dismantled to pave the way for liberation? People were forced to sit with uncomfortable truths, both globally and personally, setting the stage for the power struggles and recalibrations of 2024.

2024, Eight Universal Year – The Year that Redefined Power + Abundance

2024 was a year that illuminated themes of power, abundance, and balance. It wasn’t just about gaining success but about understanding how power is cultivated, sustained, and shared in the world. More than anything, our collective definition of abundance changed, and you may have even felt this shift in your own life—realizing that prosperity isn’t just about what you have, but about what truly brings harmony to your life.

Opportunities for prosperity were everywhere, but they weren’t always what we expected. Many of the systems we’ve relied on—financial, political, and social—were put to the test, forcing us to ask: Who truly holds power? How is it used? And does it serve the greater good? If not, how do we redefine it for global liberation?

  • The redefinition of abundance — Economic instability, rising costs of living, and corporate greed forced people to rethink what true wealth is. Many began to question the idea of prosperity that we’ve been fed, coming to terms with the fact that it’s not just about financial success, but about sustainability, security, and collective well-being. Community-based movements, mutual aid efforts, and grassroots organizing prevailed, proving that abundance is strongest in community.

  • Power struggles on a global scale — The genocide on Gaza continued, drawing massive global protests in support of Palestinian liberation. People across continents came together, not just in solidarity, but to demand accountability and justice. The calls for ceasefire, an end to occupation, and the protection of human rights reminded the world that the people in power are not stronger than the power of the people.

  • Economic and political shifts — The U.S. election cycle was hot garbage, but to keep it profesh, it was one of the most divisive in history. It fueled the fire with questions of systemic change. Global markets fluctuated, continuing to expose the fragility of economic structures that prioritize profit over people.

  • Climate crises forcing a new conversation about resources — Record-breaking heatwaves, wildfires, and natural disasters devastated cities worldwide. The undeniable impact of climate change forced people to confront the reality that abundance, again, isn’t just about wealth, it’s about resources. Conversations around sustainability, conservation, and corporate responsibility became louder than ever, pressing governments and businesses to care.

2024 made it clear that power without integrity is unsustainable and dangerous. It showed us that prosperity is not just about accumulation, but about who has access to resources, how it’s distributed, and what true security actually looks and feels like.

2025, Nine Universal Year – The Year of Completion.

2023 pulled back the curtain. It was a year of questioning, revelation, and exposing the cracks in the systems we’ve relied on. It forced us to see things as they really are—personally, politically, and spiritually.

2024 took those realizations and made us do something with them. It challenged us to examine our relationship to power, success, and abundance, both collectively and individually. We saw what happens when power is misused, but we also saw glimpses of what’s possible when it is shared, when it is aligned, when it is used to uplift rather than control.

And now, in 2025, we step into the final chapter of this cycle. 2025 isn’t just another new year. It is the closing of an eight-year cycle that began in 2017, the final chapter before we step into something completely new.

What Does a Nine Universal Year Mean?

Self-portrait, December 2020.

Nine is the number of closure, wisdom, and transformation. It is the final step before a brand-new cycle begins. In a nine-year, we reflect, we release, we make peace with the mess that might have brought the messages. We integrate the lessons we’ve gathered over the last eight years so that we aren’t carrying outdated energies into the future we’re building.

This year will not let us drag the past forward. Anything that is not in alignment will feel like it is naturally unraveling or demanding to be let go of.

Some doors will close, some identities will shift, some relationships, structures, and belief systems will no longer make sense, and it’ll all unravel in Divine time and in alignment with the highest and greatest good of all.

And while some of what we’ve witnessed in recent years may continue to escalate, it’s not because we are stuck in an endless loop of suffering.

It’s because these unresolved cycles are making one last demand for our attention, urging us to take responsibility for how we meet them.

The things we refuse to address will continue to repeat—until we decide that they won’t.

Nine also carries the energy of service, humanitarianism, and vulnerability. It’s a year that encourages us to zoom out, look at the bigger picture, and ask:

What is this decision grounded in? How can I move with more integrity? How can I contribute to something greater than myself? How can I release what is no longer aligned so I can step into what is?

If 2024 tested how we hold power, 2025 will test what we do with what we’ve learned. This is not the year to force new beginnings. It is the year to surrender to the space being made for them.

What We Should Collectively Focus on in 2025

  • Letting go of outdated structures — Some of the systems we’ve relied on—politically, economically, socially—are crumbling. We are being asked to stop holding onto what is already dead and start making space for what comes next.

  • Releasing attachment to old identities — The roles we have played, the stories we have told ourselves, the cycles we have repeated…some of them are ready to be released in favor of what is true and authentic.

  • Prioritizing reflection over reaction — This year is about moving with clarity, grace, and deep understanding rather than reacting from fear, ego, or urgency. This nine year teaches us that not every battle is ours to fight, and not every ending is a loss.

  • Committing to collective liberation — This is a year to show up for each other. To use what we have learned not just for personal gain but for the greater good. The world needs visionaries, healers, and truth-tellers—those willing to move with integrity and lead with wisdom—to step up and share their magic with the world.

How This May Show Up for Us Personally

  • Endings that feel inevitable — Whether it’s relationships and connections, careers, belief systems, or personal cycles, something will ask to be released for your life. If it feels like something is falling away, trust that it’s making space for something more aligned with your natural evolution.

  • A shift toward purpose and meaning — After years of a one-way vision of chasing success, many will realize that true fulfillment isn’t just about what we have, but how we share our gifts, our light, with the world.

  • Deep emotional processing and healing — This year is an invitation to close old wounds, deeply forgive, and integrate past experiences so we don’t carry them forward in a way that keeps us in a cycle of victimization. It’s about accepting the wisdom that we’ve gained and allowing it to catalyze us.

  • The need to slow down and reflect — 2025 is not a year to rush. Clarity comes when we make time and space for it. Growth happens when act on the clarity we’ve been offered. This is a not a year to skimp on personal boundaries and routines as self-care.

How We Should Approach 2025 Intentionally

Honor what is naturally ending — If something is closing, let it. The abundance that you’ve prayed for relies on your surrender as well as your mental and spiritual discipline.

Reflect before reacting — Move while grounded in wisdom, not from fear. Your ego wants to protect you, but your soul wants to free you.

Integrate the lessons — Ask yourself: What have I learned over the last eight years? How can I use that knowledge to move differently?

Trust that everything is unfolding as it should — This perspective is always available to us: We’re always in the perfect time and place to shift into deeper alignment. 2025 is preparing us for something bigger than we can imagine.

…Because in 2026, a One Universal Year, we begin again. A blank slate, a new era, and a chance to build an entirely new human experience. But first, we must surrender to necessary release. Let’s move through this year with an open mind, grounded in heart and deep intention.
